DID YOU KNOW? Indian Rupee

Indian Rupee was first introduced by Sher Shah Suri during his rule from 1540-1545. It was based on the ratio of 40 copper pieces (paisa) per rupee.

The word  rupee is derived from the sanskrit word raupya, meaning “silver” and in the older days it was a silver coin.
