(Nana-ke-Bol) Footsteps

पद चिन्ह 

भक्त और भगवान चले जब मिलकर 

एक मंजिल की ओर 

कहीं ख़ुशी, कहीं गम था 

कहीं कठिन थी ठौर |

अन्त समय जब मंज़िल आई 

मन हुआ भाव विभोर 

मंज़िल से तब “पथ के पद चिन्हों” पर 

भक्त ने कीन्हा गौर |

जब-जब कठिन समय था आया 

भक्त ने ‘एक ही पद चिन्हों’ को पाया 

ऐसा देख भक्त भरमाया 

सोचा प्रभु ने साथ छुड़ाया |

तब प्रभु ने पद-चिन्ह दिखाए 

अपने पद चिन्हों से मिलवाए 

बोले, कठिन समय जब आया 

तुम्हें उठाकर पार लगाया |

मैं तो सदा साथ तुम्हारे 

तू  ही मन में था भरमाया |

On Mahavir Jayanti today, lets hear his story..

तीन दशकों के राजसी सुख में भी

जब ‘वर्धमान’ न समझे ‘जीवन का राज़’

सत्य की खोज में तब निकले वह

करके संसारिक विषयों का त्याग |

कपड़ों तक को छोड़ दिया

और आत्मिक-चिन्तन का किया अभ्यास

बारह वर्ष तक साधना-रत रहकर

अन्तर-मन में हुआ प्रकाश |

देवत्व पहचान लोगों ने उनको

‘महावीर’ का नाम दिया

चौबीसवें और अन्तिम तीर्थंकर बने वह

जैन-धर्म का संगठित किया |

आज महावीर जयन्ती के रूप में

उनका जन्म दिन मनाएं हम

उनके विचारों को याद करें

और उनकी शिक्षा गाएं हम |

संसारिक खुशियां ‘क्षण-भंगुर’ हैं

‘ईश’ में ध्यान लगाओ तुम

कर्म-बन्धन से मुक्ति पाने को

उचित चरित्र अपनाओं तुम |

ईश-तत्व पहचानो सब में

अहिंसा को अपनाओं तुम

सत्यता की राह चलो और

चोर्य-कर्म को त्यागों तुम |

ब्रह्मचर्य का आदर करके

परिग्रह करना छोड़ो तुम

अहंकार-भाव को त्यागो मन से

क्षमा का भाव जगाओ तुम |

पाप-प्रवृति छोड़ो मन से

धर्म-परायण बन जाओ तुम

सब प्राणियों का आदर करके 

 प्रेम भाव जगाओ तुम |

स्त्री-पुरुष का भेद मिटाकर 

समानता भाव उपजाओ तुम 

वैसा ही व्यवहार करो औरों से 

जैसा उनसे चाहो तुम |

‘महावीर जी’ के वचनो को याद कर 

श्रद्धा सुमन चढ़ाएं हम 

जीवन-पथ को आलोकित कर 

अंधियारा दूर भगाएं हम |

FUN & GAMES: Fun Facts about the Rainforest!

I read about rainforests in one of my Magic Tree House books. I have also visited a rainforest in Karnataka in the city of Coorg (Kodagu). Rainforests are very interesting. I want to share some fun facts that I found.

  1. Rainforests are forests characterized by high rainfall.
  2. The rainforest is in 3 layers – thick tree tops often over 150 feet in the air make up the top layer. This is called the forest canopy. Below the canopy is the understory, then the forest floor. In some cases a 4th layer (emergent layer) also exists which  contains a small number of very large trees called emergents which grow above the canopy.
  3. In the rainforest many living creatures blend in with their surroundings. This is called camouflage.
  4. When animals hear a crackling sound, they flee in panic. The sound means that 30 million flesh eating army ants are marching through the dead leaves.
  5. The Amazon river stretches over 4000 miles from the mountains of Peru, across Brazil, to the Atlantic ocean. The river basin contains over half of the rainforests in the world.

Hello

Nana told me a story of how Lord Rama had to pray to Devi mata to kill Ravana. He collected 108 lotus flowers and started to pray. Devi mata hid the 108th flower and when Lord Rama couldn’t find it in his basket he didn’t know what to do. He remembered that his mother used to say his eyes were like lotus flowers and he took out his knife to take his eye out as the 108th flower to complete the prayer. Just then Devi mata stopped him and gave her blessings and said that she will not protect Ravana. Lord Rama then fought with Ravana and defeated him.

Today on Ram Navmi let us pray to both Lord Rama and Devi mata and ask them to show us the right path.

चैत्र मास की ‘नवमी’ का दिन

अति शुभ माना जाए

देवी-शक्ति और ‘श्री राम’ के पूजन से

मन हर्षित हो जाए |

‘नव-दुर्गा’ पूजन का अन्तिम दिन

‘सिद्धात्री’ रूप कहलाए

सात्विक भाव जगाकर मन में

कल्याण की जोत जलाए |

‘श्री राम अवतरण’ भक्ति रस पूरित

सब के मन को भाए

उनके आदर्शों पर चलने की

हमको याद दिलाए |

राम-रावण युद्ध समय

एक ऐसा अवसर था आया

जब रावण ने देवी-शक्ति जगाकर

श्री राम को अशक्त बनाया |

तब विभीषण के कहने पर श्री राम ने भी

देवी शक्ति को ध्याया

‘देवी-शक्ति’ अर्जित करने से ही

रावण वध संभव हो पाया |

प्रभु-भक्ति और देवी शक्ति का संगम ही

शुभ -फल को दिलवाए

राक्षसी वृति हटा कर मन से

शान्ति-भाव जगाए |
